Lucy Lawless has a long and distinguished career as an actress and musician in New Zealand. Her name is most well-known in her craft for her notable performances in a variety of top-rated television shows and films, such as Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and Spartacus: Vengeance. She was praised and remembered especially for her portrayal as Xena. Lucy played the part that was meant to go in the direction of Vanessa Angel. However, she could not attend the production due to ill health. The show was so successful that her portrayal of Xena was the catalyst for a spinoff to air in September of 1995. The spin-off show received another blow in its ratings as well as a cultural impact which made the show be on for 6 seasons, boosting Lucy's growing popularity as an actress.
